A life unlike mine

A life unlike mine

A Story by Hunter Zabbai

a newborn baby boy, wakes up in his mothers arms
her warm embrace on his smiling face
everything is how it should be
everything is in it's right place
father comes home from work, heated up
mother tries to cool him down
makes him so cold that he freezes to death
and blows up so he doesnt drown
sees baby crying, feels himself dying
but only to himself he's lying
nine year old kid, walks to school today
looking at the flowers and children at play
when they go home, it isn't the same
he just wants to play their game
to go home to superman, and wake up to mom
but his house is armed like a bomb
the normal story that's all he wants
and cries at the other kids taunts
he starts to rebel in his own way
not seeing the fault of their mistakes
takes out the pain and tries to replace
but you cant fill the void of something that was never there
floating through the air, thoughts uncertain
remained hopeful, the truth he kept searchin'
nineteen years old, i guess you call him a man
but he's barely that, acts as old as he can
still a youthful kid playing t-ball in a uniform
now the cops in uniform tell him to conform
all his life he's been told who he is
who he was, what he wants, how to live
and now he has the chance to think for himself
but his own brain has become his downfall
no longer looking down the spiral hall
back to square one after just one day
depressed and hating himself in every way
but he'll never let you know
i guess it goes to show
maybe if you live your life slow
you'll just find out where to go
