Do you get it yet?

Do you get it yet?

A Poem by Hunter Zabbai
"

It's right there in front of you.

"

Do you get it yet?

It's not that difficult.

There used to be days, where we'd eat at the park.

How about today?

I'd rather starve.

I get so fed up with getting so wrapped up.

Honestly, what am I in again?

Well, to begin....

Haven't we been waiting since the beginning for it to be the end?

Do you get it yet?

It's quite simple, really.

Insigated investigations?

Countless hours of collaborations.

Eating away, picking and gnawing.

Remember that time we saw.....

I'm sure you do, it wasn't hard to miss.

Because this is what the sound of settling is.

Accepting the fact of something you can't accept.

Do you get it yet?

"Because this is what the sound of settling is."

Killer line, that. Would have made a great title, too, except it might have given too much away at the beginning -- and one of the poem's strengths is the slow comprehension, line by line, that the author is describing an inescapable domestic hell.

Something all can relate too, isn't it? The paradoxical human condition: ceaseless, tragic, dramatic banality.

Awkward and wonderful! It reminded me of toasted mashmellows and dormant warheads orbitting my sphere of perception simultaneously. I truly enjoyed every jot!

Jingle Bells and Sotgun Shells!

Some heavy stuff- This was a dose of reality- very real and disturbing- how many times I had those fleeting thoughts- in this case not about my wife but about the direction of my life- "because this is what the sound of settling is" this line should be bronzed. Great writing....

I really really enjoyed this, it's like it was written for me I relate to it so well.
"Haven't we been waiting since the beginning for it to be the end?"
So simple, yet so great, I love that line.

I adore those lines. This whole poem is fantastically powerful and enthralling. I know the feeling and really like[love] the way you describe it.
