Who am I

Who am I

A Poem by Nix

Who am I?

I come from many different places.

Roots aren’t my thing,

But my ancestors came from Europe

England, Ireland and Germany

Except for my two great Grandfathers

Who were full Sioux and Cherokee.

Not that you could tell it by my skin

Which is paler than most

My hair is also lighter than any of my family

No Indian is apparent in my features.

I am not thin, but I’m comfortable with that

My motto having always been

“I’d rather be happy and fat than skinny and hungry.”

Tall… with eyes of blue

That is who I am.

 I am a daughter

I try to be a good one, though more often than not

Its hard…

I am more than a sister

I am a friend… a support system.

That is what I am.

To all I love and who love me

More than a friend, more than family

Support.

I actually quite good at it.

I am young and old.

A young soul thrust into an adult life,

But… it makes me me…

I am strong

I am loving

And I couldn’t cook if you paid me.

I am me.
