The Light

The Light

A Poem by BlyndSikick

My inner struggle left to fight

For what is wrong and what is right

What is dark and what is bright

What weighs heavy, what weighs light

My ignorance keeps seeping in

Drawing out, never thin

One of saint or one of sin?

Will I know? And if so, when?

Countless times I’ve seen you here

Staying far and coming near

Your shadow keeps me locked in fear

The lucid flames begin to sear

But if you’re true and you are there

Why do you force a stop and stare?

It can’t be right; it can’t be fair

To taunt us with your ‘ternal lair…

…When your face is never known

Written off and never shown

We cannot write or call your phone

They say you’re there, all alone

So someone who is just like me

Has trouble when he starts to see

The person he begins to be

May not exist to be as free

And merely live a life of naught

To lie within the ground and rot

When treasures he’s forever sought

The ones we know cannot be bought

Forever stripped and sent away

Because he failed to move and slay

The demons that stood in his way

Because of all he’ll do and say

Every time I hear the news

That you will be the one to choose

Who will win and who will lose

I wonder if it’s not a ruse

After all it seems insane

The fate of all and so the blame

Along with all the praise and fame

Could lie within a single name

For one just cannot do it all

The world today just ain’t that small

When all around us seem to fall

I wonder how you’re not appalled

Those that don’t accept you true

You punish harshly, swiftly too

And leave us all without a clue

No way to help the future new

This cycle thrashes in my head

What will happen when I’m dead

Uncertainty has forced me bled

A mass of aching solid red

As I wish you all good night

I alone wait not in fright

But nervousness as though I might

Fin’ly learn to see the light

This was really well written! Very deep, strong. Out of all the poems I've read, this one is probably one of my favourites! Thank you for sharing this with us :)

Deep. Who sees the light, and who doesn't... I thought this poem was written with great thought, the rhyme scheme, the rhythm of the words... the actual words which speak and stay close to your theme of the divinity of 'the light'. Very well done, you're talented and I can't wait to read more. Thanks!
