Imagine meeting you right here
At this time in the morn'.
Can you see into my eyes
And see behind the scorn?
My trouble lies without these walls
Some miles and miles away.
You might just help me fix it
That is, if you'd like to stay.
I'm not in town a lot
Although you're there most everyday.
My world, instead of black and white,
Is simply trapped in grey.
Is this the way it's s'posed to be
I sure hope that it's not.
My will to live is ceasing
And my life begins to rot
And this is where you can come in
To save me from this life.
It could reside within your hands
To take away this strife.
Convince the new found power
To secure this crowning jewel.
Then, and only then,
Might I be saved from such a fool.
For this jewel that I speak of
Taunts me always: day and night.
I've dreamt of it for months!
It dissipates into the light.
I promise you it's not a jewel
To hang upon a wall!
It's not a decoration,
But a cushion for my fall.
I'm caught inside this spiral
With truly no way out.
Unless the jewel belonged to me
I know without a doubt.
And now I bode farewell to thee
And to this dance and song.
I hope you can for me persuade
The object that I long.
