Midnight Maiden

Midnight Maiden

A Poem by Bluefire

~*~

Three maidens of delicate lace,

Three maidens that gaurd this place.

Dark and silky like Midnight grace,

White and glowing like Stars in the darkness of space.

Striped and colorful like the shadows along the Forest floor,

Midnight maiden does not grace us anymore.

Star and Forest wonder what for,

Their beauty incomplete to the core.

Where is Midnight maiden anymore?

Down by the graveyard she sits and waits,

Beauty never fading from Midnight's sweet face.

Her yellow eye glows in the darkness,

Giving off a bright golden spark,

Like a fire starting against dry tree bark.

Finally I made my way to her,

The maiden waiting for the cursed cur,

That is I,

Not her.

"You're late, love." She says in a low purr,

As I bent down to stroke her midnight black fur.

"Got a lttle lost." I told her.

Without another word,

She led me into the stars,

And off we went,

To the Elegant Maiden Mars.

For my cat, Lestat Gatsby, who passed from this world giving birth to two beautiful kittens, who I got to take care of for a day before they joined her.

Sorry for your cat, I know the feeling. Beautiful poem in rememberance of her. If she was still here, and could understand this, she would burst out in tears at your beautiful way of portraying her. Well done.

Thank you muchly! I hope so. ^^
This is enchanting, and lovely. I'd like to think this would be something of a cat's paradise. I feel like I'm in a different world when I read this. Beautiful. Also, you have my condolences; my cat (her name was Daisy) died of cancer....Thank you for writing this. :)

Thank you, I was certainly in a different world while writing this. ^^
Such entrancing poetry and imagery, and the meaning behind it (as stated in your author's note) brings an entirely different meaning to the phrase, "You're late, love."
You certainly have the ability to turn moroseness into such an enrapturing atmosphere that engulfs those that inhabit it, an atmosphere that has a knack for seeming so darn enticing but harboring such dark aspects shrouded behind the mask of fantasy. Well done, indeed.
