An Illustrated Sky

An Illustrated Sky

A Poem by Jaci

The stars broke free

from the strangling clouds

shining white and sharp

dot to dot patterns

creating illustrations

across a blackened sky

The moon slung crescent

like a cheshire grin

the night appears so clean

Crisp air, cold

breathe it in

exhale in puffs of smoke

images form intangible

dissipating in the dark

Old man west blows again

the stars abruptly scatter

once again the strangling clouds

ride before the heavenly matter

Not goodbye, but see you later

when the wind does sleep

with the coming of summer.
