Sunset

Sunset

A Poem by Jaci

My thoughts have been still
in a stagnant pool
where algae bloomed purple
Hushed by soft songs
and memories
whispering in the wind
behind a dam of metal
As with most things man made
it rusted away
and I rushed down river
I saw birds at play
digging for tasty treats
on grassy banks
along the water's edge
tearing into weaker flesh
on this their greed was fed
the fish jumped into the sun
flashing blue and silver
for they too were free
from behind the dam of metal
We swam past quiet rocks
calling for them to join us
to the deeper waters of the sea
into the arms of the setting sun
where all was gold and beautiful.
