Pedestrian Crossing

Pedestrian Crossing

A Poem by Jaci

I watched the rotation
there was no need to come back
because every day
it was the same
except maybe for the shoes

white sneaks
loafers in brown
the old stand-by
black high heel
and flip flops
with painted toes

I don't like flip flops
but I do paint my toes

Seven to nine
traffic again
evening rush
faster than then
red light green light
stop and go
not paying attention
to the rotation
crossing the walk
back and forth
morning and night
I've had enough

it's time to go.
