Love Is

Love Is

A Poem by Margaret

Love Is

Love is like a jigsaw puzzle
There always seems to be a piece out of place
A piece missing or lost

Love is like the wind
Sometimes calm, never moving
Often times blowing, rustling our lives

Love is like the sun
Shining like a bright new penny
Burning like a blazing fire

Love is hard and sometimes demanding
Wanting to quit, but somehow surviving
Hoping things will work themselves out
And settle on an even keel!

Always live life, believe and remember
Love is the essence and purpose of our existence.

I really enjoyed this. Your use of simile is very impressive. Good work!

Sorry, Margaret, but those are similes, not metaphors. The other points, though, I agree with. This is a truly amazing piece.

You have talent!

Your use of strong metaphors gives this piece the ability to paint pictures with words in the mind's eye. Although in my life and experience this is not a true description of what love is, I think that love is different for each individual and you make it completely clear what love is to you. This is the sign of a gifted writer to be able to take internal concepts and express them clearly enough for anyone to understand them. Good Work! I am looking forward to reading more of your stuff. I have a piece that everyone has avoided because of its length. I would be grateful if you would give it a read. http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/Maggie-May/271880/
Once again, GOOD WORK! Peace&Love be with you...~M~

I like your metaphors in this write. Love can sure be likened to wind. At times it is calm and serene, sometimes a refreshing, gentle breeze, and at others a tornado or full blown hurricane. I love the last line especially:

"Love is the essence and purpose of our existence."

That does seem to always be the way --- a piece out of place. So often we fall into the rut of day to day life that it's easy to forget the importance of showing and expressing love to the important people around us. Love is a tricky little thing. So fickle.

You are certainly correct... love is all these things... it is a healer when in the right hands, some use it as a weapon but as you stated it can be a puzzle and like a puzzle it needs work but can be worth it for when you find the all the pieces it becomes a beautiful picture.
