If We are to Escape

If We are to Escape

A Chapter by Blue_Sky

I woke to find that the events of the night before had not just been a night mare. I was still in the black dungeon. I sat sure that the horrible icy fingers would once again find their way to me. Soon I abaned those thought for all that Black Sky had said to me. Did I really cause people to die? Images started to pop into my mind. I saw the faces of all the villagers who were most likely dead. And worst of all the image of Regen's cold lifeless face. I thought of the night he died. He was alone when the spirits called him name. How I wasn't with him and he passed on alone before I could tell him how much he meant to me. It was my fault. All of it. This thought haunted me for what felt like days.  with only the darkness and silence to keep me company. At last I heard whispers. They steadily got louder till I could make out what they were saying. “open it.”

“Fine.” The door slowly opened exposing me to a blinding light. And there they stood a girl, a handsome boy and the horrid man who has kidnapped me.

“What happened to you?” the girl asked. I blinked unsure of what to say. Surely this was another way

For Black Sky to mess with my mind.

“Blue we must hurry. Now!” the boy prompted her

“Relax Red. She needs a moment”

“You have to stay behind me at all times.” She said turning then to look at the man, “Dustin leave now.

Ready the horses” she ordered

She was with the guy who brought me here she must be working with Black. Her hand reached for me as

Dustin ran out of sight.
I panicked. I bared my teeth and hissed at her. They were going to take me to him.
"Pyrro its okay" Blue cooed, trying to calm me down, but I saw right through it. she reached for my arm again and I screamed. "Its not my falt! I didn't know! I didn't kill them! I wont join you!"
" Father has gotten to her." Red said horrified. " Let me try something." he got down on his knees so that he was at eye level with me. "Pyrro its okay. It wasn't your fault. Whatever he said wasn't true. Remember even in the darkest night there is still light and hope." as he said that a small flame appeared in the palm of his hand. " Go with Blue and she will show you to the light." his voice was so, soft and kind, and full of confidence it was impossible not to believe him. Tears rolled from my eyes and I hugged him tightly.
"Thank you." I said as he helped me to my feet. Red grabbed his sisters arm. "be safe, both of you." he whispered. “don’t die Blue. you can lose an arm, but don't die." with that Blue gently grabbed my wrist and we ran towards the dungeons exit.

My barefoot hit the cold stone floor and the realization of what was happening hit me we were escaping. Not just escaping anywhere, but the sky castle.

“How are we going to get out of here?” I questioned.

“Horses.” Blue answered simply.

“And the guards?” I asked.

“Are on my side.” Blue answered.

“Sounds easy. How long do we have till someone notices?”

“Until the first light of dawn if we’re lucky. Five minutes if we aren’t.”

“What if we’re not lucky.”

“Then you better be praying for some miracle, and I’ll be dead.”

Then with a sudden turn we came into an open space where Dustin stood with three horses. All of a brown color.

“Dustin.” Blue whispered.

“I’m coming with you.” He told her.

“No.” Blue objected

I took this moment to jump onto the horse nearest me and ride away the direction of the gate.   In that moment Blue turned and jumped onto another horse chasing after me. By the time the I reached the gate two guards had their swords draw as though they were ready to kill the horse and then me.

Blue called out from behind me “She’s with me let her through.”

The guards with drew and opened the gate all of this happened without the horses strides slowing. As soon I was out of the gate I jumped off the horse and begain to go the opposed direction as the horse.

Something cold gripped my heart. “It was your fought. It has always been your fought.” Regen voice whispered. The guilt and the horrible visions of his face and anyone else who had died surrounded me.

I went cold like ice unable to move. I tried to take another step but my legs shook like leaves in a storm before I fell to the ground, and  in the blackness of the night something cold grabbed me and pulled me from that place. My eyes closed almost welcoming Black's voice ready to agree to join him. If only to never have to be grabbed by his shadows again. Then I heard water crashing into the ground.
