The More I’m Asked [Are you happy?]

The More I’m Asked [Are you happy?]

A Poem by Hunter Mullis

The screaming, the shouting.
‘Are you happy?’
The lying, the hiding.
‘Are you happy?’
The faces, the places.
‘Are you happy?’
Anxious, spacious.
‘Are you happy?’
Depressed, repressed.
‘Are you happy?’

The more that I’m asked,
The clearer it becomes.
I’m not happy.
