One of ManyA Story by Hunter MullisMore of a rant styled story about my day today before I spent five hours in the hospital.
I wake up in the morning with a lingering pain, my concussed mind still a bit foggy.
I get dressed and get ready to head to the hospital. That’s when it starts. He comes down looking for something, anything. Anything he can use as ammunition for his imminent explosion. Like many times before, that would be me. He flies off the rails and starts screaming, nothing different here, I go to another room and finish what I started. That’s when he really tears into it. “I wake up and you ruin my day in three seconds! You’re a pig who does nothing and I can’t stand you! Always f*****g everything up!” Along with other expletives and choice words I don’t care to repeat. As much as it upsets me, deep down I know that he’s right. I’ve known these things for a long time. He’s just finally said it to my face, what everyone I know thinks but has never said. Having finally heard it, I lift my chin up, blink it all back and begin the drive to the hospital. The only thing on my mind being the fact of the day: I sure know how to ruin people’s lives. They should’ve gotten rid of me when they had the chance. © 2018 Hunter MullisAuthor's Note
