Who I'll be tomorrow

Who I'll be tomorrow

A Poem by Hunter Mullis

I can feel the fighting,
Tearing my brain in two.
The two fighting for the spotlight.
Who I've repressed fighting for center stage,
Who I show to the world fighting to keep his place.
I can hear the fighting,
A bystander to my own mind's battle.
No ability to influence the outcome,
I wonder who I'll be tomorrow.

This poem depicts an inner struggle to which the speaker has devoted much introspection. The nature of the struggle is not specified, but it could be anything from a young person's desire to establish an identity to the onset of a mental illness. I sincerely hope it is not the latter.
