The Big Escape

Arya and Jack flee the palace and its walled city with the help of Trys.

Ever since she was ten, Arya had a tradition to spend her birthday with Jack.  On her eighteenth birthday, she went over to Jack’s house with a plan.

                “Hello Arya, happy birthday!” 

                After she was inside, she said to him, “I am leaving the city, and I am never coming back.  I wanted to say goodbye before I left, I have enough stuff packed for now.  My uncle is going to help me get out of the city, and after that I am on my own. I am going to join with the resistance.” 

                Jack just stared at her for a couple minutes, then said, “I am going with you, and you will not argue with me!”

                “Really, you want to go with me?” 

                “Yes, and nothing you say will make me stay here.” 

                “Thank you!”  She hugged him tightly.

                “I was expecting you to be against my going with you.”

                “I actually want you to go with me. Going out there alone is a scary thought, but with you by my side I think I can make it. Plus Trys will not let me out alone.”

                They went out and got supplies to last them at least a month, after then they should be able to get more supplies.  When they were headed back to Jack’s home, they ran into Trys.  “Good afternoon Arya, how is everything today?” 

                “Everything is good uncle, we are just about set for the day.” 

                “Tomorrow will be a better day to do any activities, I am expecting trouble brewing today.”

                “Tomorrow it is then, shall we go talk somewhere more private?” 

                “Yes, proceed onto your destination, I will follow you two.” 

                When they reached the Jack’s home, they all entered.  After Jack lit a fire, they all sat down close to it.  “Ok, here is the plan you two.  Tomorrow morning at sunrise, you will meet me at Arya’s training place.  The only reason I even trust her going out into the world out there is because she has gotten quite powerful in the five years I have trained her in lightning magic.  You two then will have me escort you outside the city walls.  From there Arya will lead the way.”

                Arya had to ask, “can’t I just teleport us out of here?” 

                “No, that causes too much noise, so you will be caught much easier.  Jack, I must ask you also to look after my daughter.  I love you Arya, and I am so sorry I wasn’t there when you were married off.  I would have fought my sister for you.”  

                “Don’t worry about it, everything turned out fine.  Now, it is getting late, and if we want to leave in the morning, we should probably get some rest.  Thank you uncle for everything.” 

                “It is my pleasure, farewell for today.”  Trys left the house.  Arya was so exhausted from everything that went on today, that she fell straight asleep.

                The next morning when she awoke, it was still dark outside.  She woke Jack up, then started to gather their supplies.  By the time they headed out to Arya’s training place, light was starting to form over the horizon.

                Trys was already there when they arrived.  They didn’t speak, Trys started toward the gates.  Arya and Jack followed.  As soon as they were outside the gates, the guards stopped them and asked, “where are you three going?” 

                Trys spoke to him, “I am Captain Trys. I am taking my niece and her husband for a walk outside the walls.  I will return with them before dark.” 

                “You may pass,” said the guard. 

                In a couple hours, they were quite a few miles from the capital city, then Trys stopped them.  “I must head back now.  Do not worry, I have a story laid out for everyone.  Take care, and I hope to see you both in the future.  Good bye Arya, my daughter.” 

                “Good bye father.” She kissed him on the cheek. Her eyes teared up now.

                “I will take good care of her, Arya will be safe with me.” Jack shook Trys’ hand.
