Photographic Kiss

Photographic Kiss

A Poem by Chris Lotus
"

A romantic/fiction piece

"

She told me that she was going overseas

And she would be back in about four weeks

She had her ticket, packed her suitcase

I told her "I love you", gave her a hug and kissed her face

Let me hold you one more time, I'm gonna miss you baby

I know its not forever, but its driving me crazy

I just couldn't stand the fact that she would be gone

I went with her to the airport, I just couldnt leave her alone

I held her hand then entire way

I stayed with her the rest of the day

We were in front of the plane, before she got in it,

We held each other one last time, for a long minute

All seemed sad, until she  she looked back at me with a smile

Her face said, "Dont worry babe, i'll be back after while."

That made me a bit happier, then before my eyes

The plane took off, I stood there until it vanished in the night sky

It hasn't even been a day, and ive thought of you lately

I keep waiting for you to come back, its driving me crazy

The first week passed by slowly and enduring it was really hard

The end of the second week, in the mail, I got this package with a card

She wrote, "Hey sweetheart, I hope you're doing fine,

We're in Paris, France, the ship ride was divine

I'll be Iran in perhaps a day or two

I just wish I could see it all with you."

But what gave me the most joy out of all of this

Was a picture she sent of her on the ship, blowing me a kiss

This is fiction. Its a dream I had. I think I fell asleep while listening to "Cant Stop Loving You" by Phil Collins, which I do believe influenced the dream and this piece.

It does sound like a song. The rythm was beautiful. Thanks for sharing. :)

This sounds more like a song than a poem; I can almost hear it set to music in my head. The rhymes are a little forced, but they don't really take away from the lines at all. Overall, it's a good piece =)

I loved this poem- from the way it rhymed to the way that it almost felt like a movie. The poem was very realistic and casual, so it didn't sound too cheesy than it would have probably been if it wasn't. Also, the way you described things made your readers see how the story is flowing- like going to the airport, the plane leaving you standing there, and her sending you a postcard with her blowing you a kiss. It was all very visual. Even though it was a long poem, it wasn't hard to read because everything flowed very smoothly. Also, I commend you on this because you say it's fiction yet the way you wrote it felt real since you have dialogue and you mentioned places like Paris and Iran. This is a great piece. Keep it up!:)
