The Statue Awakens

The Statue Awakens

A Poem by Chris Lotus

Brilliant and radiating
Golden rays beam at me
Slowly weathering my shell of petrification

I am not of marble
Nor do I stand like the others
I am of shards of sediment
I'm a statue that reclines

My arm muscles shift
Lime colored sand sifts
As my neck loosens and warms
My geode necklace falls off

The greatest of statues
Arent meant to weather
Though mentally I refuse
Physically im forced to obey

More chaff and dirt flies
As the rest of my limbs loosen
My fearsome stone mask cracks upon my face
I inhale as it falls and shatters

I'm blinded by the golden rays
Frustrated to be out of my shell of petrification
However, I must now tread upon the earth, again

Author's Note

Chris Lotus
This has been interpreted several ways. Just so you know the poem is a metaphor/hyperbole for waking up in the morning when you really dont feel like it.
