Alone

Alone

A Poem by Christian Bonoan

I am alone but never lonely
In a place where I call mine
I sit all night just longing
Longing for the stars to shine

I am alone watching the fountain
Waters singing round and round
In a night full of stars shining
As my feet stays on the ground

I am alone in this starry night
In the park and no one cares
Years passed as I released a sigh
I was always alone for many years

I am alone, yes I am forgotten
This may be the way for me to grow
From the words that's making me rotten
Someday I know this feeling will go.

Sorry for the delay. I like the formal nature of this - holds together nicely. But I've got some questions that might be interesting to investigate.

We start off with "I am alone but never lonely" but yet we're "longing for the stars to shine." It's almost like not lonely except for the stars, maybe?

Then the next stanza, we get a "night full of stars." So then I think, Great! We're not alone right? But sort of. Is loneliness a dichotomy? It totally can be!

Then in the last stanza, we learn that there's "words that's making me rotten," and we're "grow(ing)" away from them? So (and I could be reading this wrong) there's something said in the past that caused a change?

IN ANY case, maybe ideas addressed or could be addressed in other poems? I'm being awfully literal so please take with ample salt.

Thanks for this review! I appreciate this so much
Goodness, I know exactly what you mean and I think like I can say that because you describe the feeling so well. Alone, but not lonely, yet forgotten. I feel that this kind of aloneness comes from being apart from the world, as poets we see the world in a way most cant. We pull from everything around us to the point where our emotions and logic are entirely unique. I savor the ability to watch the world but it definitely sets us apart. Well put, I love this poem!

The construction of your poem is well-done, with good rhyme & rhythm, plus I very much relate to your message. I like the way each stanza uses a different natural phenomenon to show us the way it feels, full of imagery & originality. I am a loner & I've always treasured my aloneness, so it's refreshing to see this state being portrayed in a balanced way, with some longing, but not necessarily a state of being miserable in aloneness. Most of all, I like the last stanza where it explains the wisdom of staying hopeful despite feeling forgotten.

I agree with the logic of the poem.
"I am alone, yes I am forgotten
This may be the way for me to grow
From the words that's making me rotten
Someday I know this feeling will go."
The above lines are needed. We must gather our mind and thoughts to find what we truly need. Thank you Christian for sharing the excellent poetry.
