Looking out the window

Looking out the window

Looking out the window...
You’re getting further away from me
I guess this is where we part ways
Maybe it just wasn’t meant to be.
Standing there motionless
What more is there to say
We thought it was the rise of a new sun
But maybe the sun didn’t set until today
My mind is cluttered…
Crammed with so many memories
Mostly of our good times
Your smiles, I’ll take them with me
I hope you find your way home
Seems like it’s the opposite direction
Embrace me with your final words
My thick skin is my protection
I’m so sorry you feel this
Now please turn and walk away
I am feeling this pain now
I don’t want you to see it on my face
Looking out the window…
Further away you are
I never thought that we would
grow this far apart
It’s already done now, so I hold my chin high
Tomorrow is a new day
Sure you’ll have someone new in your life
Broken dreams bring sorrow
But I will maintain
My life still ahead of me
That’s what I retain
Whispers tell me this is for the best
Surely you jest, this mess doesn’t interfere with my rest
and I sleep well…
