The River

The River

A Poem by BlueEyedCubTN

I am often taken for granted,
But I sustain.
I am made only of water,
However my power can cut through stone.
My sound is gentle,
I can also cause havoc.
I am used for recreation,
I also provide food.
Men have used me as a road to explore,
I have also carved great chasms.
Great bridges cross me.
Animals call me home.
I am the river.
I can be gentle and peaceful.
I can also be unrelenting and cruel.
Humans believe they can stop me.
If I choose, I can prove them wrong.
Protect me and treat me with care,
Or I will unleash fury.
I am mighty.
Eat from me.
Bathe in my water.
Swim in me.
Respect me.
I can help life flourish and I can take it away.
