All Hallows EveA Poem by BlueEyedCubTNWritten 1997In the dead of autumn when the moon is full, Comes a brisk, cold wind that carries the laughter of ghouls. Children stay in your homes on this night of bad luck, When bats fill the skies and black cats run amuck! Smiling pumpkins, spiders and ghosts, Decorate doorsteps to welcome the host. Then one by one on Halloween night, Comes devilish goblins and all sorts of fright. Satanic demons will haunt and cause fear, On this dark, wicked night that comes once every year. Vampires and zombies come out of their sleep, To haunt the town and cause children to weep. The cackle of witches and clatter of bones, Echo their rhythm in the streets that they roam. Flesh eating monsters and men with no skin, Play in the forests as the dead live again. Murder on their minds and blood on their lips, Phantoms and banshees laughing in fits. Dragons and fires, devilish choirs, Skeletons, spirits and creatures from mires! The haunting and screeching and dead people breathing, Corpses walking and laughing and screaming. But when the stars grow dim and the sun starts to rise, The moon will set as light ignites the skies. The apparitions and spirits that played through the night, Must now return home at the approaching of light. So goes the superstitions that some my believe, Of the mischief and evil of All Hallow's Eve. © 2012 BlueEyedCubTN |
