Shadows

The evening wears on as shadows disappear
She sits in the dark, staring into space
Longing for his presence
Remembering days of the past
When silence made more sense than words

Longing for the warmth of his hug
The touch of his hand on her face
His lips on her lips and his breath on her
The smile in his eyes as he looked down on her

The world has crashed
Like a sand castle on the sea shore
Washed away by tears and emotions
Like the grains of sands slipping through the fingers
She watched him slowly walking out of her life

Silently crying in the dark night
Waiting to hear his voice
Whispering her name
She lulls into sleep with hope in her heart
Hope is all she has to bring him back
To love her once more
