Lost Words

I read your words again and again to make sure I had read them right

No matter how many times I read, the words do not change

I read my own words, wondering if I should have ever written them

Words have stopped between us and I have lost you forever

A thousand miles separate us, a thousand words long

But more is the distance that separates our hearts and minds

I cannot reach you even if I try as the miles refuse to shorten

As we move in separate directions, can we meet someday
