YOU AND ME

 

This thing that I want

It speeds past me

But am rooted where I stand

I can’t reach for it

This that I desperately want!

How vain! I can’t even touch

It ignites my hearts pulse

Then flees without a blush!

Why this that I want

That life deems unfit

For me to have?

And why taunt me with it?

This thing that I so want

This that I can’t have

This that is you and me…

This etched in my heart as us

What we want and what we get can be a two-sided story. I believe a lot of time fear stops us from reaching for the unknown. I think life need to be grasped hold of and hope for the best. A strong poem. Yearning and desire need to be tested. A very strong ending to a very good poem.
