MIRROR

MIRROR

A Poem by Maureen Mwaniki
"

ever woken up only to realize who you think you are is not who you really are?

"

I met her today

A reflection of me

But not quite me

She has my eyes

In league with the stars

But their glitter is marred

And she wills a smile

So much like mine

Only broken, somewhat vile

She wears my face

Only mine is a facade

Of beauty, poise and grace

And within her is my spirit

But the aura that comes with it

Is heavy with tormented spirits

And I met her only today

That reflection of me

Has become me

I really enjoyed this line! It's good when authors forget the rules and just have fun with it sometimes! I enjoyed how you personalised the pom and flowed with it. Nice work

This is something i can relate to as well - to look in the mirror and see a familiar stranger looking back. You expressed this really beautifully. Thanks for sharing this.
