DEAR DEPARTED

DEAR DEPARTED

A Poem by Maureen Mwaniki
"

just something i wrote to remember the ones i've lost and miss so much

"
Your memory is to me
Resurrection of faith
Buried deep within
And a fortress to my soul
Vexed as it may be
Your presence was morning
As your absence now is night
And in my earthly path, sad path!
Not a rose in sight
But in the beauty that is earth
I see in the sea a second love
And I draw from it will not to lie
On despair’s bed and wait to die
Instead I will write
An earnest goodbye
To your spirit now dead
That once stood with me in life
And is once again in death
A great part of my life
Pray, forgive these weak lines
For within these lines
The spirit of her lies
She who likes to think
She and you are in sync

'Your presence is morning as your absence now is night'. This was by far my most favourite line of the poem. Your wording is good and each word serves well to advance the poem's meaning, but at some parts the message is lost. But overall the poem exudes great power and sentiment and i'm now officially one of your fans. This is definitely a good start. Keep writing!
