Hollow PromisesA Poem by BloodySkyePoemYour lips are prison bars Your words is like a razor Carving into my heart these scars Prosecution colliding with my demented intuition While your tongue dance the dance Like a drunk ballerina practicing her prance The animal in me is roaring My human of me is scoring I stand to pledge allegiance to my soul rights But instead my voice froze cold with stage fright There is a battlefield in my corner with wilted roses The door to courage slowly closes Will I wait my fate? Or run towards that golden gate? People in my court cheers The legislative branch of my mind invites fear I gotta stand up Face myself in the midst of burning glory Somersaulting and cartwheeling my rights Across the heads of the jury I will renounce my verdict While the future; the media tries to predict This is my declaration of honesty While you fan your sweaty face with subpoena papers and cryptic policies See this is what happens when you make hollow promises Guilt will forever haunt you when you trespass on its premises © 2014 BloodySkyeAuthor's Note
