Black Feathers

Black Feathers

A Poem by BloodySkye

Upside down

Around and around

You go

Flapping your wings

With a burn in their seams

Inside your happiness glows

*

Cuts and bruises is your canvas

Been through wars that no one seen

Traveling though the skies

Harsh wind blows

Hunger screams

Food is scarce

And yet you still fly

Your world is dangerous

Survival the key

Swooping soaring screeching

Each day is the same yet a little different

Watching people below

Chattering with friends

Your language is different

But the sun understands

Even the rain

That swept your nest away

A little strange

But thats what defines you

Just a little bird

A small little angel

Who brought joy to a sad heart

Your presence graced in a bowl of sunshine

Thank you for teaching me

That the smallest things in life

Means the most

*

Upside down

Around and around

You go

Flapping your wings

With a burn in their seams

Inside your happiness glows

****

Little Ferris Wheel

Taking me on a joy ride of understanding

With a twist and a turn

A jerk and curve

You define freedom

My un-caged bird

My little Ferris Wheel

Fly away

Let your chirps tell your story

Let your wings flap their glory

Shedding black feathers

Your special letters

Decorated on my soul

From your heart of gold
