Ode to the UnknownA Poem by DownTheDrainReflecting
on notions of unseen and unheard And
all of the daydreams that said notions incur. With
possibilities limitless and realities impure There’s
only so much of the factual that one can endure. Looking
forward in time, pressing onward in space A
practical mind is a great thing to waste For
with no view of tomorrow, with “the now” as your base Life
is no more than a race at another man’s pace. Our
imaginations invaluable; great providers of purpose Foregoing
inevitable futures as has-beens, wash-ups and burnouts For
with hope for what’s out there and no room to be nervous Those
aforementioned possibilities materialize at your service. And
where the present allows for the hateful, the regret-ridden Our
mindsets can encourage the compassionate, the love-driven. We
can look forward to our heart’s desire, because all is worthy of forgiving Oh,
great big Unknown, you’re what makes this life worth living. © 2010 DownTheDrainAuthor's Note
