Shipwrecked

Shipwrecked

A Poem by Akasha

“Shipwrecked”

Dear Sailor,

From where does your northern star shine?

My Sailor,

Whose sexton will never lead you astray,

Whose crew will love you always.

But while you’re on the water’s top,

I hope the salt dissolves your fears,

And the tide brings you in.

You’re lost at sea, dear Sailor,

A diamond in the rough.

And though you’ll try, you’ll

Never get anywhere near the bright.

If this is the way your ship is headed,

May the maelstrom swallow your spirits.

The monsters of the deep will savor your

Fear, lap at your wounds,

And you’ll be just like them—

Bitter and uncertain.

The starry sky is blazing more,

Dear Sailor,

From where does your hope grow?

Your Stella, your Love,

Where do you find such luck?

My Sailor,

Whose sexton will never lead you astray,

Whose crew will love you always,

The maelstrom is approaching

Faster than you can swim.

My Sailor,

The end is near.
