This is all YOUR FAULT!

This is all YOUR FAULT!

A Poem by Thief Lord Alex
"

For my boyfriend

"

Does this make you see me differently?

And hopefully bring new possibilities?

I'm full of dramatics

But you don't seem to mind

You can be cruel and demanding

But sometimes you're kind

I can still feel the fire

From where you're touched my skin

I'm pretty patient but

It feels like I've waited forever

Through thick and thin

And through all kinds of weather

And to think that all this

Is all your fault!

My body temperature rising

My thoughts running around

My breath catching unexpectedly

But only when you're around

It's all your fault!

You know it's true

Because when writing this

I could only think of you.

If you expect your rhyme scheme to be taken seriously you can't rhyme "around" with "around". That's beyond wonky, as is "forever" and "weather". Sound it out, does it really sound as you intend? That aside, this piece suffers victim the same problem that plagues about 90% of the poetry on this website. It comes across as whining. And the funny thing is, there is an easy way to avoid this. Use imagery, use metaphors to describe what it is you're trying to say. Make your reader work for it, puzzle it out, examine what it is you're trying to say. Most importantly, read other poets. Read some of the greats, some of the basics, some of the masters, and learn how it's done.

Cheers.
