A dream I had, I was Katlyn Way, the (fictional) younger sister to the Way brothers from My Chemical Romance. No one knew but the family and so I went to a normal school. Enjoy.
“Ms. Palmer, if you would please read your story.” The teacher asked. The assignment had been to right a fictional piece on a celebrity that people didn’t know much about. She had chosen herself, but no one knew that. She walked to the front of the class and read an excerpt from her diary, translated into third person.
“We all know about the new Way sister, the girl that everyone’s talking about and yet no one knows her name. We all know that the Way brothers refuse to talk about her, not wanting to feed her to the media. But do we really know her? Do we know about how Gerard is the one protecting her, while Mikey could care less? Do we know how everyone says that ‘They’re such close sibling, I wish my family was like that.’ And how every time someone says that she goes home and cries? How Gerard is so proud of her but Mikey won’t even say hi to her, how Mikey refers to her as ‘The damn cat’ instead of using her name? The fact that, even though he doesn’t even know remember anything about her, Mikey is still her favorite of the two? How she takes bass guitar lessons, and struggles through them, but doesn’t ask for Mikey’s help? So that when she does learn, then maybe for once he’ll say he’s proud of her? How he doesn’t remember her birthday but she remembers his and so she leaves him a gift even though she knows he probably won’t care anyway? No, we don’t know. We can only sit back and guess, wonder, ponder what goes on behind those closed doors. Maybe one day Mikey will be proud of her. Until then, she’ll just fake a smile and act like they’re the happy family everyone thinks they are.” Katlyn finished and took a bow, walking back to her seat as the class clapped.
“Very interesting take on the Way family Ms. Palmer. Next up is Mr. Stocks.”
And that afternoon she got home, throwing her diary on her bed and pulling out her bass guitar from where it was hidden in her closet. After ten minutes of hopeless practice she went downstairs, sitting on the couch until Mikey came in.
“Hey Mikey.” She flashed him a smile, which didn’t last long. He didn’t even look at her until he was about to sit down.
“Hey Gerard, can you come get the damn cat off the couch.” He sat down and blinked back the tears that wanted to fall. Maybe one day he would care enough to remember her name, but that day sure as hell wasn’t today…
The subconscious works in mysterious ways to help us sort out our internal problems, even if we are not aware we have a problem.
This story tells me you feel invisible! It does not matter to whom you feel invisible it could be family, friends, work mates, or anyone because for the moment it is an internal feeling that has been recognised.
The fact that your dream shows "family" members, one member of which you want to "see" you indicates two things.
1- It could be your own family who is not "seeing" you as you wish to be seen
2- It could be a young man you see in a family situation, who doesn't see you, but who also "want's to see you, and is not yet ready to take that step.
You are doing all you can ( in your dream) to please Mickey and it is frustrating you and hurting you so much.
Even after writing the above it seems more likely you are feeling alone, unwanted, and needing someone, anyone to see you for who you are.
On a personal level, I don't know you yet I 'see' you through your writings.
I see you as a good, kind young person who has a feel for many things beautiful in her life, but who is going through a tough period of her life right now, where she needs to "Know she IS"
Maybe that is not quite enough, but it is a start.
A dream such as this will keep repeating untill the problem is solved.
I wish you luck and happiness Tara, just believe your subconscious is working on this problem for you. Take notes of the dream when you wake.. have any details changed.. write them down and check them against the next repeat... you may even see how it will work out.
Another point may be to think about the dream before you fall asleep and ask for the answers to be shown in your dream.
To be honest, your story was basically one run on sentence. It was like you were trying to get everything out in one breath. I think you have potential for a very interesting story, but go back, think about how you want to present it, then "slow the pace" of the story, and struture it so the reader doesn't feel like they're being assaulted by the verbal onslaught
