Choice you made

Choice you made

A Poem by Thief Lord Alex
"

Poem about my friend and his *now* ex.

"

He brushes a hand against her cheek

She giggles, I can hear her

She's supposed to be with me

She said she was coming

Yet there she is

Sitting with him

Two hours late

For the date to the movies

My throat seems to close

I can't draw a breath

My hands clench

And my eyes narrow

And she looks over

She sees me

Suddenly she remembers

Her eyes widden in horror

She stands up quickly

Apologizing to him

Stumbling over to me

Smelling like cheep beer

She apologizes

Tripping over her words

Like she trips over her heels

Grabbing my arm for support

I yank my arm away

And tell her it's alright

I flash a fake smile

And with a nod, walk away

She calls my name

Starting to cry

But it's too late

I'm in my car

As I drive away

I see the real her

Mascara running, eyeliner smudged

She's sobbing now

I want to step out

And wrap my arms around her

But she made her choice

And so I leave her for good

Author's Note

Thief Lord Alex
My best friend had this happen to him and I learned something. She wasn't crying because she lost him, she cried because she got caught.
