My Inner Apology

My Inner Apology

A Poem by Angel
"

This is what I think some people, myself included, feel but never say out loud.

"

I thought I could listen to all the pain

I thought I could take it as my own
I thought if I smiled, nothing would matter
I never knew my heart could be so torn

I can’t think
I can’t breathe
I can’t be
without the pain in me

I wanted to be your crutch
I wanted to take the blow
I wanted you to smile with me
but I can’t take any more

My happiness is fading
My smile has taken leave
colors are all black and white
I don’t know what to be

If I can’t be your steady crutch
Like everyone expects
would you still except my friendship?
or move onto the next?

I thought I could take it.
from dawn
until dusk
but I can’t take it anymore
its breaking me up

Though I shall not cry
not one single tear

I feel it in my heart;
this unbearable fear

I still feel it all
every cut
slash
and rip

I still hate it all
it makes me flip

But I won’t say a thing

not out loud at least
I’ll still take it all
if it will calm your beast

Brilliant... This is exactly the way I feel a lot of the time. I want to help, I want to calm their beast, as you say... But sometimes, it just can't be done. Sometimes, you just have to take a step back and breathe, before someone else's problems become your own. I loved this! Keep writing! :)

So many people must feel this way, when their love for their friend can no longer outweigh the pain they feel. Being that kind of friend is very difficult but loyalty and the will to go through hell for those you care about are the greatest qualities you can find in a person. :) A fantastic poem. I hope you're appreciated better now.

This poem is so heartfelt. Something that many people can relate to. The second to last stanza with just one word for lines forces the reader to think about each individual word. I like (:
