Reach for the StarsA Poem by Blonde ComaWhat do you see when you
look at me? Am I just a kid in a
graphic tee, Or can you see the deeper
side of me? Everything has its place
and meaning. I live by a certain code But im close to breaking
it, And it'd be my fault. What happens though, If I do and its all for
naught… A young girl stares up at
the night sky. And sees the great heroes
of the past Outlined in the stars
above. She reaches to the
brightest But she is too small, Her arms are too short, She cannot reach the
result most beneficial. She finds a ladder, And climbs to her wits
end. Aspiration rises with her
elevation level And at last she reaches
the top of her plight. She reaches out to the
closest But she is too small, Her arms are too short, She cannot reach the idol
she admires the most. She holds her breath and
jumps, Ready and determined To grasp the treasure in
her arms, Only for them to slide
from her skin As if they were just hot
ball of gas. She falls through the
stars, One by one. She screams, But the deep vacuum of
space Steals the voice from her
throat. If a girl screams,
spiraling through space, And there is no one but
the empty stars to hear her, Does she make a sound? The full moon, Once larger than life, Seems to shrink with each
passing second. She calls on her hero And invokes the mighty
constellation it represents. She reaches out to the
strongest, But she is too small, Her arms are too short, She cannot reach the
thing she desires the most. © 2014 Blonde ComaAuthor's Note
