Fly on the Wall

Fly on the Wall

A Poem by Blonde Coma

I am just a fly on the wall

Waiting on my wings to dry

And on that day,

I'll fly away.

I sit quite content and watch my surroundings

From where I can see it all,

Until one day something caught my eye.

A bright little bee

Is what I see.

It flies past my window

And calls me out from the safety of my wall.

I think to myself,

"I can see it all from on my wall

But not outside and there I fall".

The bee leads me to a tree

And then turns its stinger on me.

My wings are dry enough today

So this day I will fly away.

I am on my way back to the safety of my wall

When something catches my eye,

So there I go, by and by,

On to this blessed distraction

A spider on a branch of heart pounding attraction.

It weaves its web around my head,

In a deliberate yet determined attempt to coerce me to bed.

It warned me that if I came any closer, I'd be caught,

But by that time, my curiosity had already been bought.

I inch closer with no fear, no regret,

To silk so soft id never forget.

"I've been locked up in that house all day,

Just one touch and I'll move away."

The spider watches as curiosity gets the best of me,

because I'm used to the safety of my wall you see,

but now I'm intrigued by a danger worse than the bee…

Is it the size, the texture or the creative patterns

That depict a certain truth from its environment,

That keeps me perched precariously on this branch.

I am a fly on the wall

Who escaped the wolf's den, every tooth and claw,

I am the fly who heard the Siren's song

And knew the difference between right and wrong.

I am the fly who encountered the bee

And knew it was time to fly to another tree.

I am the fly caught in the spider's web

And can't decide if I want to be spun

Or just let this thing be over and done.
