Chapter 5 ~ Talking.

Everyone ate in silence, Calvin had no idea why everyone was so pissed at each other. Jed looked a little worried, Tom acted like nothing had happened, Jed's mom was out, Jed's dad was out, Sam would rather never speak of the ridiculousness of her brothers ever again. Breakfast was awkward and tense. After breakfast they all went into the living room to 'have a talk'. They all sat down.Tom and Kyle sat on the couch, Calvin was outside, Jed stood off the the side. Jed's parents weren't home yet so Tom had invited him to talk with them. Jed did so but didn't seem very happy about it.

Tom continued to grill Sam in a manner that made it bearable. But finally Sam just got tired of it. She stood up and looked around. "You guys are idiots." She said, "And if you think I did something with Jed you're also retards."

"Sam why would you spend the night in a young man's room?" Tom asked gently

"I didn't 'spend the night in a young man's room'. I slept, as in being unconscious, in Jed's room." She said getting more and more irritated.

"Sam we're just trying to get to the bottom of this." Tom said.

She groaned, "You know what? We are at the bottom." she stepped toward Jed. "But I'll add another layer just for you!" She grabbed to fistfuls of Jed's shirt and kissed him, well kinda, just put her lips on his. But her brother's couldn't care less. She pulled off Jed and let him go. She turned to her brothers, "If you are going to be mad at me for doing something with Jed I might as well do it." With that she climbed up the stairs to her room. Just before she closed the door she heard Jed say, "I didn't do anything."

Sam sat in her room and didn't talk to anyone for hours, she just sat on her bed and tried to figure out why she was so stupid. Kissing Jed was obviously the way out she thought sarcastically. She shook her head. There was a knock on her door. "Who is it?" She called.

"Me." Jed called back

"What do you want?" She was afraid he would be mad at her.

"I need to talk to you." He called

she sighed "Come in."

Jed came in, closed the door and sat on the desk chair in her room. He was rubbing his hands together and wouldn't look at her.

"So what's up?" She asked

He looked at her his face said he wasn't amused. "Sam you can't just go and do that."

She looked down embarrassed "I know I'm sorry. I just got so mad at them."

"Well don't do it again. It's not fair," he stood and began pacing "You can just walk up and kiss me one day and no one really cares. But everyone assumes I took advantage of you." He shook his head.

"I am sorry Jed, I don't know what to say. I don't understand why you're so mad. I don't think it's that big a deal."

"I just... I... Nevermind." With that he left her.
