The Promised DayA Story by Jesse JacquesDear Victoria, It feels as though I have not seen you for ages, yet I see your beautiful face every day.Your sparkling eyes have haunted me for many moons and your soft lips whisper promises to me. Promises that I shall not be able to keep, for I am away and shall not see you soon enough. They said that I shall not return for many days. And every day I count down to the day that I see you.I do not know when this letter shall reach you, but know that on this day, there are only twenty-seven left. It is then that I shall keep my promise. Until that twenty-seventh day, wait for me for I shall wait for you.
Yours Truely, Alexander
I waited twenty-seven days for him but he has not returned home. This was his last letter, I am afraid. But I know I shall see him soon. Frederick has been going around the whole town "visiting" so that he may tell everyone that we are to be wed soon. I do not love him and I know that he does not love me either. I hope we shall never wed. He will never see our wedding day. Never.
I waited twenty-seven years after that day and my Alexander has not returned. I fear he has been lost or hurt. But not one letter has told me of his whereabouts and I fear he may never come home again. © 2011 Jesse JacquesReviews
