Soul on fire As I birth This For no other reasons Than birth pains Are a blessing And children aren't mine To keep But ideas to free Sprouting wings of Concrete Attempting to fly Over piles of s**t Masquerading as Friendships Foes know better Than to even try Cause I've kept them close And they know me Better than those trusted to Shield me from pain Now I lay me down to sleep I pray sometimes To personify All that you think I am Waking to walk Not stumble Crawling Scratching Clawing Blessed be to those Who don't encounter me Still I rise...and Anondra is Attempting to figure out How I got here I laid down to sleep Arose on the opposite side Of my reality Looking at whose standing Next to me with slight Wonder No awe That's reserved for that one I know not Road not taken not an option As I only see one pathway Out of vision blurred long time ago No acknowledgment of past Failures because that would Be to much like learning Claiming intelligence Displaying personas Exemplified by those Who think this is What A black woman should be Picture me this In black and white No colors No growth Closed in by absolute Uncertainties Weakness displayed Late at night with the Ghosts watching Sun rises I rise two © 2009 Kat Williams |
