Breathe

Breathe

Sometimes I just wanna

Breathe

In and out

Slowly

Deeply

Rhythmically

Life has me breathing

Out and in

With no center

Sharp bitter air

In the dead of summer

I breath

And with every breath

I take

You take two

Not with me

Against me

Depleting me

And us

Honesty is what I’m getting

And in this case

Yeah that’s a bad thing

Understanding is what I’m seeking

And you gave

I just didn’t comprehend

Till now

Troubles rooted deeper than you and I

Just you

And I can’t help you

Be you

Because the you I see

Isn’t being reflected back at me

So I’m building us based on grains

Grainy photos of what I think you are

Even though you are showing me

You

In color

Absent of taste

And staging

3 senses left

And they fading

Along with my love

Our love

This love

Asking why

Gets me back to comprehension

And you not lying

It’s me covering

And adding layers

To the simplicity of you

So I can only blame me

For being in love with love

Enough to be blinded by love

2 senses left and fading

In and out

Of this love

Not what u claiming

Just what’s happening

Hiding our love

Out of respect of

Parental love

That should be a given

But isn’t

Hearing that we been doing this

For a while love

1 sense left and its fading

Faster than the memory

Of when we met and I said

You smell of sex

Remind me of sex

And that led to sex

Naturally

And us doing us

This time

Around

I’m

Stopping

Pausing

Breathing

In

And

Out

Love

This love

This is absolutely lovely... very honest, even though "Honesty is what I'm getting/And in this case/Yeah that's a bad thing" - (fav line alert)
Definitely connects the reader and draws them in with what you have to say. Sadly enough, I can't listen to the recording right now (at work), but as soon as I can, I will. Can't wait to. Very thoughtfully and beautifully written.

This is so expressive and poignant and beautiful. I remember now why I first fell in love with your work... raw, seemingly seamless flow with heart, spirit, and a wisdom not granted to everyone. This part
"Hiding our love

Out of respect of

Parental love "
raises so many questions, and really, one can draw their own conclusion within their mind, relate in their own ways. That makes this poem universal, and appealing.
Thank you for sharing this terrific write. I like the spoken as well.

The spoken version gives it so much more life, simply because of the emotion that I get from hearing your voice getting it out. I'm able to get in touch with how you feel even more when it's spoken; and except for the beginning when you mispronounced rhythmically, you really did a bang-up job on this piece.

As always, I'm a fan of your work.

The rhythm of this joint is exquisite, yo!!! Goodness. I'm always taken aback by your poetry because it comes off of the tongue so effortlessly. You write with this blunt truth and your language is, as always, sick.

I'm feeling this because at one point we've all been there. The romance and the sizzle leads to more, and the fire eventually leads to a crash and burn at times. But this had to hurt so good coming out.

Dope joint, lady.
