Living wordsA Poem by Kat Williamsa thought that morphedLife is words And so I use Them Eagerly when just a baby Sounding out And tasting each new one Rolling of the tongue Joy found at the mastery of New ones Sparingly in my Teen years At least when talking to My momma And boys And some girls Friends were showered Overmuch so Til they were friends no longer Learning life word lessons Young adulthood found me Weighing them more Tasting them less Life word lessons being taught On give and take And Taking… Always taking While changing And exploring And moving on To new And better Maybe Or just trying To find me In a sea of other More well defined me’s Maybe First impressions Not always valid So again I learned And evolved Into middle passage Or as close as I can come Words being sprayed with A velocity surrounded by Assuredness learned The hard way And still I rise To meet the challenge Of the upcoming words Stayed with the thought of The many years to accompany them The many more to be learned To be taught And given To share Reflecting on childhood Full circle Living is words
