Stereotypes

Just because I’m black doesn’t mean I’m ghetto.

Just because I’m black doesn’t mean I’m rude.

Just because I’m black doesn’t mean I’m poor.

Just because I’m black doesn’t mean I’m into rap.

Just because I’m black doesn’t mean I’m religious.

Just because I’m black doesn’t mean I’m homophobic.

Just because I’m black doesn’t mean I can “twerk”.

Just because I’m black doesn’t mean I’m sassy.

Just because I’m black doesn’t mean I’m automatically Haitian.

Just because I’m black doesn’t mean I wear weave.

I’m black and I’m me.

Author's Note

Blissful Sin
Im African American and im totally different than the other African American people i know.
im very "White" (is what some people call me) because
I like Metal instead of rap.
Im learning Japanese.
I want to be a forensic pathologist.
I get good grades.
I don’t dress like im going to a cub every day.
I don’t wear weave.
But that’s not being black. That’s just being who you are.
Im just being me.
Being ghetto isn’t being black. Its just a subculture.
Like emo. Or goth. Punk or gangster.
Its just a subculture of art that a lot of black people like.
And its not just black people but other races and different types of people love the ghetto subculture.
Its just them being who they are.

amen. you should never have to conform to societal norms just because of the tones of your beautiful skin.

well this is a strange tendency of societies to associate such characteristics based on race etc. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

I agree. All those things are associated with African Americans often but that's not how every African American is, and other races do those things sometimes too.
By the way, I thought you were white, at least that's how I pictured you whenever we spoke.
o.o
Anyway, well done. Be proud of who you are. ^^

We're all human and that's all we should be. Such is why I often flat-out refuse to answer what my nationality is when I am asked the question, and it especially enrages me when sexist stereotypes emerge. You speak the truth, well done.

You are so right. Definitions can be so confusing by society and governments. At the end of the day we are all humans...Bravo...............
