Wandering Children

Wandering Children

A Poem by Megan

The children wander among the streets they know

Strolling in a straight line, not a step out of place

Each step they plant perfectly onto the brick stones beneath their feet

Wishing a good morning

And a good afternoon

To the street venders and corner shop bakers

Curious children with heads filled with wonder

Wishing to one day be like the riches

Masqueraded in material things

To hide the true value they lack

The wandering children

Have not yet realized

They will never compare to the riches

The wandering children

Are already far too wealthy.
