Being GratefulA Poem by Megan
Today, someone didn't feel the warmth of a blanket
Today, someone didn't feel the security of a hug Today, someone went to bed hungry Today, someone went to bed beaten Today, someone didn't get to go to a bed Today, someone didn't get to hear the gift of music Today, someone didn't hear the words "I love you." Today, someone didn't get to hear their mother's voice Today, someone didn't get to see the gift of light Today, someone didn't get to see their mother Today, someone felt too ashamed to speak Today, someone felt unworthy to live Today, someone didn't wake up Today, you awoke to the warmth of a blanket Today, you felt the security of a hug Today, you didn't go to bed hungry Today, you didn't go to bed beaten Today, you had a bed to go to Today, you heard the gift of music Today, someone told you they loved you Today, you heard your mother speak Today, you got to see the gift of light Today, you got to see your mother Today, you felt confident Today, you loved life Today, you awoke to do it all over again Sometimes we are unaware of the gems we already possess And how greatly they are needed from others Stop for a minute Take a deep breath And be grateful for the gifts We often overlook. © 2013 Megan |
