Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem

A Poem by Megan

Are you alive?

Or do you just exist?

Are you free?

Or are you just surviving?

Next time it's storming

Go outside and open your arms

Lets the rain sink in

Listen to the thunder roar

And feel powerful

Next time youre on the beach

Walk up to the water

Even sit down on the shore

And let the water wash you away

Feel every drop hitting you

If the waves knock you down

Don't feel embarrassed

Get up and do it again

Next time you see a person with scars on their arms

Whether you know them or not

Tell them theyre perfect the way they are

And they are needed in this world

Next time you see your grandparents

Give them a big hug and kiss

And talk to them for however long they want

Your phone can wait, carry on a conversation with them

It'll make their day

Next time you're on a fourwheeler or a motorcycle

Feel the wind in your face

Look at your surroundings fly past you

And remember that feeling of pure excitement

Next time someone asks how you've been doing

Tell them you couldn't be happier.
