The Art of PretendingA Poem by BlindsightedSketch the picture of a perfect place Filled with friends, love, and smiles They drown in their ignorance they call bliss And replace their fears with harsh denials
Erase the lines that seem out of place The illusion is only partly defaced Smiles here are mostly clever facades To hide their own bitter distaste
Make the lines as smooth as lace Mocking, smug smiles etched on like a mace Used to hide their irrational fear They stubbornly see the fake in what’s real
Now colour in all the white space Taint it with misunderstandings and delusions If the people themselves believe it, The past is the truth to them
Crumple it up and throw it away in distaste But you quickly force a smile onto your face Because where fear and darkness reign It is easier to feign © 2010 BlindsightedAuthor's Note
