The Void

The Void

A Poem by Sad Poet

"The Void"

We all bare a hole in our chests
We all share a void in ourselves

Some fill it with a pill
Though this makes us feel okay
It always seems to fall out the very next day

On occasion, I wonder why we must feel so incomplete
But then I remember, at birth, the emptiness claimed our defeat

The human condition seems to lack substantial nutrition

We were all doomed from the start

We were all born with a hole in our heart

From a really depression standpoint, we are all born to die. That is one thing guaranteed to every person. Your poem discusses how some people try to fill the void, the emptiness in their lives with material items. But, material items only bring us temporary fulfillment.

We can fill at least some part of the void in our life by finding a purpose and working relentlessly towards it.

The sad part is the pill only masks the original reason for the pain. We all want the quick fix to something that is just sometimes unexplainable. Well done..xo

Your welcome..
Ahhh yes – your dramatic write assumes the belief that this world is as bad as it could be and iniquity will ultimately prevail over good. Pessimists get a lot of flak for negativity, and their health may take a beating, too. But they make better leaders and are more resistant to false advertising. Having realistic expectations may actually be a recipe for happiness. Or … am I being too optimistic? Nice work – here is one candle light fan in your world – better than a pill and won’t fall out the whole – if anything it may illuminate it … kudos!

I love spare, direct writing, and you have done it with rhyme. I have long been fascinated by the concept of the void, specifically the possibility that all we really want is contained in it. Good work.
