Spoiled Milk

Spoiled Milk

A Poem by Sad Poet

"Spoiled Milk"

I forgot the milk was spoiled.

But what a romantic thought I'd had.

That it was rotten of course I'd forgotten before, yet I always end up throwing up on the floor again.

If my life had a chorus it would be one of melancholy, melodrama, and remorse.

Romance is such a blinding force.

I will forget again and I’m aware that I will not win.

Love is simply suicide hiding in a cloud of fireflies.

The phrase, "Don't cry over spilled milk" came to mind when I finished reading. I am pleased to see this sentiment still has meaning despite the circumstances. Unfortunately, relationships can be fickle to the point it becoming a cycle of destruction. We are often considered stupid or brave when we continue to play in the dating game which is not merciful. We believe that we forget what it is like to experience heartbreak, but we simply repress it by keeping the memory of when the "spoiled milk" was delicious. We hold onto it much longer then we should.

Overall, letting go is difficult for it takes time. "Fireflies" will always return, and I encourage others to never give up. Thank you for sharing!

sincerely,

Waow! I'm speechless because this, for me at this point, is so relatable and heart wrenching.
But I refuse to be fooled by fireflies again!
