Politics - Theme 13

Politics - Theme 13

A Poem by BlaqkShadow
"

My view on world politics, both here in the UK and western world to the most war-torn parts of Earth. From my 50 themes project.

"
Democracy is just a word, not reality,
Our whole lives are just an exercise in brevity,
So we have built a facade of peace around us
Blind while our fellows are ground into dust.

A global disaster no-one can see,
Giving our lives to leaders that cannot agree,
Famine, war, disease and tears,
homelessness, unemployment, all bound in fear.

Capitalism, dictatorship, democracy,
Fascism, monarchy, theocracy,
none make a difference to the common man,
laws change like the wind, nothing going to plan.

We cannot trust the glass stares, the icy smiles,
The pretty words, the lies to cover the bile.
No matter the country, the religion, the skin,
No matter how humble the origin, how pure the beginning,
The money corrupts and takes their souls,
And they bow easily to those truly in control.

If we want to embrace true democracy,
We must stand up together and set ourselves free.
To give shelter and food to the homeless and weak,
Medicine and hope to the saddened and meek.

Look after our Earth, for we only have one,
Breathe in a fresh life, a new age has begun,
Stop giving the power to those that do not care,
Shout out loud against all that's unfair,
Love one another, be strong and stand tall,
And may the white serenity of peace bless us all.

We live in a very, very sad time. Our countries used to be lavish. A paradise compared to a lot of the world at that time. We used to be the bigger people, standing up fo what was right. We waged wars on pverty, not on poor people. These politician's care about nothing more than money and their public image, no matter what country. I love your description of them, the twisted faces that these people have, "We cannot trust the glass stares, the ice smiles, The pretty words, the lies to cover the bile." Such good choice of your words is great, and it brought out very serious emotions from me. Outstanding as always, keep it up! Thank you,

Good advice on how to survive (or at least cope with this confusion)
Some of us just sit back and smile
Poets are supposed to warn us to lead us to find the way

Thank you so much :)
This is a powerful poem which speaks of honor and nobility, trying to wake the sleepy heads of a materialistic world to see and live life as one. Thank you for an inspiring piece.

Thank you so much
This is so true and this thought is not confined to government, the politics everywhere. We are so desperate to be ruled and looked after, when we are actually capable of doing both ourselves. Only when politics becomes a service only then we will have real politician. All the politicians we admire, they all served humanity. Its hard to see the ideologies of all the great leaders are just getting twisted by corrupt politicians and being used to fill his buckets with votes and pockets with money.
This poem stands out for me in conveying the message that politics has to be a service rendered rather than a job to get paid for.
