The Assassins ClientA Poem by BlankPaigeAlikens clients version (another point of view)A Shadow sits before me An Assassin all in black Small sack of treasures His payment in full
My heart uncontrollably pounding Fear, has become my constant companion Woe to me, my murderous intentions My tortured soul, eternal guilt
Across the small table I slide the velvet satchel His hand darts out, and is gone He has his prize, my glass suddenly filled
The rum warms me from inside Restless spirit, settling slightly I'll return to the keep now An end to this deadly business
The kings forest so peaceful My horse trots gently through it The woods, and all, are mine now My evil deed is done
An ache arises in my gut A pain creeps up into my heart Not because of what I have done But a fear of my own demise
To think I could succeed My folly was upon me No witness permitted to live His creed I remembered well
I slipped from my horse A poisoning most unnoticed A shadow passed before me An Assassin all in black © 2010 BlankPaigeAuthor's Note
